Though we are moving fast towards total globalization even in India, still we have many reasons to stay connected with our roots. One of such roots is school education in vernacular medium. When most of the Gujarati parents are keen to take admission in English medium, there are 5 reasons why Gujarati Medium is not dead and still alive.

1. Base education of parents:

Reason is very simple. Parents will be able to teach their kids at home. As parents have done their formal education in Gujarati Medium they can teach their kids without tuition. The kids will willingly accept teaching guidance from parents.

2. Less educated parents feel comfortable:

So what if parents are uneducated/least educated? But if they admit their wards to vernacular medium; Gujarati Medium in this context, they can guide them very well about how to study and procure good result as they had failed when they were kids due to some circumstances.

3. Competitiveness:

Gujarati medium schools are emphasizing on school infrastructure and ambience. There are many schools which are educating in English and Gujarati both mediums. It also beats in infrastructure, amenities, quality of teachers and in-house activities for students they provide. Cherry on the cake is their lesser and fit to pocket fees.

4. Mother Tongue:

If whole curriculum is in mother tongue students are more likely to engage in learning process. Whole ambience becomes such that where teachers, students & students to students speaks in Gujarati. So that they relate to any topic very interactively and the toughest topic can get resolved very easily.

5. Local Language Lending up in Instilling Virtues:

As there establishes mutual understanding between teacher-student due to mother tongue, it converts to strong bond of care and respect. This ends up instilling virtues in students by teachers.

Alternatives are always available. So what if a student has passed out his whole schooling from Class 1 to Class 12 in Gujarati Medium? He/she has all chances to polish English on his own.
